While I was employed as a Graphic Designer at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA I created this rendition of both the CHP Badge & Shoulder Patch to be used on marketing posters for the radar repair contract the base had with the California Highway Patrol.

A sample of the Badge was supplied to me from the CHP as a black & white bitmap image and the shoulder patch I scanned out of the CHP magazine. Both the Badge & Patch needed to be converted to vector images so the could be enlarged to be used on marketing posters.

Well needless to say because of all the intricate detail in both the Badge & Patch this was no easy task. I brought the images into CorelDRAW (Version 8 at that time) and redrew all the elements of both images piece-by-piece. It was a time consuming process but the results of the finished images made it all worth while.

The CHP was very pleased with the final images and needless to say so was I...

Note: This project was done back in the day where a good auto trace program had not been designed yet. I took the finished badge into Photo-Paint to get it ready to post here and there I added the lens flair to give the piece some sparkle.
